2016 Pacific Coast Championship, October 8, San Simeon

PCC's 2016!! Saturday, Oct. 8.
Okay guys, sorry this has taken us so long to get wrapped up.
CenCal asked us to work it because of their getting prepared for the nationals, and jut a lot of other commitments which was putting the squeeze on them.
So here it goes: Same campground/ meeting area. Saturday, October 8. 2016.
After last year, we came to realize the meet had grown a lot more than the location was allowing us. We paid a fine for our largesse, and were sternly warned they will not frown upon us doing that again; they will shut us down.
So, there will be no major campground party, staging, etc. We are going to of course be all together to a similar degree, but the Fathomiers, CenCal, Tritons, and the other clubs (OC spearos, Red Triangle, SD Freedivers) can not be sanctioning a meet of that size in that area without state parks being on board.
We will have trophies for 1st thru 3rd individual, and 1st place teams, as well as big fish.
There will be no raffle, no shirts, no door prizes. We are going back to the stone ages for this one.....
In light of the nationals being held in Ft Brag in 2017, this meet is a qualifier for the top team, and for the GLACD council. IF an individual diver does not have a council to dive for, they can sign up for GLACD and use this dive as a qualifier. The SD council might not be current with USOA, but they can get reconnected easily enough, and the meet could also be used for them, as can NorCal council, and CenCal may also count this for individuals. It's up to the respective councils.
This said, we are emphasizing TEAM efforts, and are encouraging you to consider diving with what you might feel would be a good team for the national competition. If you do not have a team, of course on the day of the meet you can pair up to form a team.
Entry fee: $25. GLACD council membership is separate, I think it's $20. (Not 100% sure, will update.) Kayak based. No electronic technology allowed. We ask that there be no diving the major section of coastline for scouting purposes. Again, a no scouting meet. The Friday before the meet, we ask that any divers wishing to get wet and grab a fish for dinner or test equipment please dive directly in front of the campground area, as this will be eliminated as a launch site. Or, head north above Piedras Blancas, or down to Montana De Oro if you are intending to make a full day of fishing on Friday.
At 6pm Friday we will pick the location for the meet, in the campground. We will also give the dive briefing at this time, we ask that all divers be present.
Dive times will be: 7am meet up, and travel to dive location by 8am. To facilitate the day going more smoothly, we need to start a little earlier. Boards in the water by 8:30, 1/2hr travel time, and diving time is from 9am to 3pm at the beach/ staging area. Immediately break down and head to the campsite area where we did the weigh in last year, weigh in will start at 4:30pm sharp.
We need to minimize the impact on the campgrounds, this is paramount for the meet's survival in this area. Can't stress this enough.
We will have pre-registration, again, I will update this information as soon as I can. Divers will be able to register Friday evening as well when we give the dive briefing.
Hope to see you there!!

This was a fun event last year. Those weigh-ins took a long time tho.. If you shot 2 perch, probably not worth standing in line to weigh.
