Freedive Recovery Vest
« on: June 09, 2016, 07:20:14 PM »
I just received my FRV yesterday.  I haven't used it yet, but I'll bring it to Tino's so anyone who wants to check it out can look it over or try it on.

Not going to make it this weekend, but very interested in the frv.  Looking forward to reading about your experiences with it.

Just a thought, but couldn't this be integrated into a wireless watch/vest combo?  Just like the wireless transmitters for scuba.

The control unit is in the vest. You set it and that's it.  There's no need to have it linked to a watch, however it is possible. The additional expense of adding a watch would outweigh any added value that I can see, and a wireless safety device seems to me to be somewhat sketchy. Wireless scuba only serves as a system monitor and not as a control or actuator. Safety systems, IMO, should be entirely self contained and isolated to avoid and accidental inflation or failure to inflate due to loss of comms with its transceiver or interference such as burn through from another RF source. Also, this product has military applications where radio frequency emission control is essential for stealth.

Integrate it with a shark shield and my family would be pretty stoked

I have extra cylinders Rob if you want to test fire it.  I'm leaving straight from work today so it's too late to bring them this weekend but they're on the shelf in the garage by the treadmill.

Thanks Josh. I picked up 8 cylinders too...  I planned on testing it at 80 since that's the depth of my deepest marks, but I don't know if I want to paddle out in this wind. I'm also curious as to how to re-stow the airbags on a kayak. I'm only using it for emergency, but the test run will probably be a boat dive so I can re-arm it.

Hmmmm.  So I've heard. Were you planning on taking the boat out in the wind?
