Humboldt update
« on: October 12, 2013, 10:45:31 PM »
Well humboldt has been doing quite well since that first fall rain and cooler temperatures. More chantrelles and hedgies than I know what to do with, a few early procini in the mix. Lobsters seem to be over for the season, but who knows another warm spell and maybe we will see a second flush.

My girlfriend has been hooked on her latest mushroom soup recipe which is quite simple and delicious.

10 large chantrelles, dry sauted
1/3 large yellow onion
3 cloves of garlic
1/8-1/4 cube of butter
enough chicken brothe to cover all of it

Combine everything but the mushrooms, cook till the onions are starting to turn translucent. Add chantrelles simmer for 10 minutes (the longer it simmers the more flavor the mushrooms add) and then put all of it in a food processor and puree. Looks like baby puke but it tastes amazing.

Headed to the bay area on tuesday and staying till sunday to visit the fam and dive carmel a bit. Is anything popping up?
