Diving Sea Ranch?
« on: March 13, 2013, 06:24:32 AM »
Does anyone have experience diving Sea Ranch for Abs? Is the easy public acsess to water? I don't need a secret hot spot just a general direction. North of town or south of town? Thanks for your help.

there are a few public access points at seas ranch just do not venture off the trail or to far up the beach unless your in the water. Lots of good diving to be had. the best thing is to if you have a kayak get some wheels and wheel the yak in and paddle to the less accesble area's. Some of the spots I have had decent luck at is Shell beachand pebble beach, as well as black point all have decent abalone also note be sure to check for the MPA's there is one up there. also here is a link to some info on sea ranch

hope this helps.

Also, there have been issues of divers leaving their shoes, dive bags, etc. on the beach only to return and find them missing.  Lock your stuff up!

I was up that way a few weeks ago, and one of the access points had washed out. Can't tell you which one, but not all are open.

Public access up there stinks. One of the access points only has 4 parking spaces. If you're bringing a kayak, be prepared for super steep stairs and/or a long portage. They didn't design it to be easy for the public, but if you put in the effort there are good abs.
