Salt Point Mushroom Update
« on: December 21, 2012, 06:34:20 PM »
Just got back from Salt Point area.  Right now the Matsutakes are poppin good, also the Candy Caps, along with some Chanterelles, and a few B. Edulis.  If any of you need help ID'ing your finds go to a great site to get help.  Another good idea is to join your local Mycological Society.  The big three in the bay area are: MSSF, The Mycological Society of San Francisco, SOMA, the Sonoma County Mycological Society, and The Santa Cruz Fungus Federation.  I am the current President of the MSSF, and I know there are divers in all three organizations.  Remember when you head north to dive and the ocean is just totally blown out or just plain nasty, you can always go mushrooming!

Thanks for the update! I was considering going up to look for chantrelles on sunday to stuff the turkey with. It's been a big hit with the fam the last few years. I imagine the kings are thinning out but I hope the chants and the hedgies are taking off :)
