Anyone ever Dive Marin County?
« on: November 12, 2012, 09:53:47 AM »
I am going to a place not easily available to most divers, going by boat to Arch Rock just north of double point / Stormy stack. North of Bolinas Bay.
N37 59.217 W122 48.800
I am going by boat and I have only been there one time before, my first dive ever last November 30th. I got to see some amazing things. However there was low visibility, I still saw an amazing amount of Abalone...COVERED in Abs. Now I have a Camera, I will take pictures and Video. If your feeling Lucky PM me there might be a seat on the boat.

Could you tell me (PM) a good spot to go that doesn't cost me a load of fuel to get to by water?
I have been trying to find a spot, but I haven't looked hard enough I guess. Thanks for any info in advance.

I got one ab from the duxburry reef in marin last year on a low tide.  Viz was bad, landlord was lurking in my thoughts.  Its doable but bring a buddy for sure.
Not as sketchy as bird rock...... there were no seals to be found at the Dux...

I've done an exporatory dive not far to the south of where your coordinates point (south of double point if i had to guess).  Vis was pretty bad and hunting was tough in the darkness.

Where I dove was mostly thinly bedded shale, not the best abalone habitat as it doesn't give them large smooth rocks to hold onto.

I still intend on going back with scuba to do more scouting.
