Just talked with Tom Krebs and he is in training or the Triton X. Better bring your A-game, there are some studs in this tourney.

I feel like the last junkie in line at a methadone clinic I'm jonesing so bad.  I just need a fix man!!!

Sitting at work getting reports of lakelike conditions with easy 20 foot vis and getting better.  Pictures of 30"+ lings flooding my phone.  I'm leaving at 2:30 and I can't wait.  Hope to see you all up there.

Yeah...I notice that yesterday's forecast 4 to 6 ft swells for tomorrow have been downsized to 2 to 4 ft swells.

It's flat as ice and foggy already. Excellent conditions for tomorrow.

Chad got the biggest ab.
Rick got both the best Junior, 2nd biggest fish, and the best overall score out of 140 divers.
Matt almost got the biggest scallop.

It was great, as expected from a Freedive Shop event. Conditions were unbelievable, the fish were of quality and great abundance, and everyone came away with some piece of dive equipment.

With some luck and persistence, I managed to squeak out a victory over Dave E., albeit by the narrowest of margins (0.56 points)
24.4 lingcod
6.05 red
4.15 black
5 cab
1.95 striped perch

it was a great event I managed to place in the top ten and 3rd in the scallop, I made my mistake by shooting my 20 pound ling on thrusday and pulling my ten on friday before the comp need to learn to save those for comp day, but in all a great event.

I came in 5th.  i had 4th largest ab, 10.24" and a 7" scallop that they wouldn't count because I couldn't get the bottom half of the shell.  I had the same problem as Matt.  We shot the big fish before the comp.  Had a great time diving with the guys for two days before the event and the day after.   Next time Matt we have to hunt a different area than we are diving for the comp.

Funny you should mention that. I got a quick dive in the day before, as well, and was pondering whether or not to bring a gun... I chose to leave them on shore. Soon after, in the setting sun, I found the above ling, along with a few reds and other fish.

Would I have shot them if I had a brought a gun? I'd like to think I would have had the scouting-discipline not to, but it sure was an easy decision to make with a gun-less kayak...
