Not too much booze the night before and no esparagus to make your pee stink! You need energy to stay warm during the dive. I just can't eat early in the am, but I can drink a couple of ensure type drinks without feeling like I have to puke, so that is what I usually do for a early dive.  If I'm diving later in the day it doesn't seem to matter, except I almost always get "gaggy" when I'm done diving and coming back to the kayak (I don't know why).
Everything in the universe flows. You can't get a hold of water by clutching it. Let your hand relax and only then will you enjoy and experience it.

For people who sometimes get motion sickness (like me), ginger root works better than any pharmaceuticals I have tried.  I used to eat raw ginger root but it was pretty gnarly tasting.  Then I found ginger root capsules that eliminate the bad taste.  Food wise, a piece of bread for me.  I don't like diving with a full stomach just because metabolizing the food uses too much O2.  No coffee or anything acidic for those who get motion sickness as the acid triggers the gag reflex.  I use a piece of bread to absorb the stomach acid, not for energy.  This method works really well for me whether diving or on a boat.  I saw the ginger root technique on "Mythbusters" and tried it.  :icon_thumright:
