I've never dove Mendocino before and i was just wondering if there are any spots that are sheltered from the N, NW swell and are still decent spots for fish and abs?

I would suggest Albion. Its a great place to dive with lots of awesome topography. Lots of fish and snails to be had up there and fairly protected but you may want to bring a kayak or boat because you need to get outside the bay to the outer areas.

Rd 500D, is  usually a good place when water is rough ,might be a little picked over now, but its the south side of Russian Gulch , if you want to try there just go over the bridge at Russian gulch turn right at  500d.
