Ok so filming of index spot is two fold
1) top side panoramic shot sweeping the cove, make note of water conditions and date it
2) go to same spot in off season and get shot when conditions are not condusive to diving, mante notes and date it

3) underwater is all up to you, be your own director, nuidbranks are nice but concentrate on anything you hunt and discuss on forum more often, film some kelp shots to explain growth and different kelp environments, show the digitata covering the substrate or how you can "part" the palm kelp to find ab's, be creative its up to you...

Todd,
What type of file format are you looking for? I have a cannon powershot that takes decent (.mov) files, will that suffice for the above water panoramic? Will this be all digital or can we break out the old VHS too (not that I have one just that others might)?

I know some video techniques, my avatar is actually my dvd cover.  As a matter of fact, I am on netflix search Kwoon.  Our slogon was : Bad Acting, Good Kungfu.  And for comic-con we use our posters " Its like Porno, but with Kungfu, instead of Sex"

Its corny video, but we had a budget, and some how got it published.  I am willing to help on some of the videoing, but no experience for underwater shoots.  Hopefully I get my Canon D10 by the end of the month, I wouldn't my shooting some clips.

I also have canon powershot d10, that will work fine for above and below, basically we take all vid and splice them together for the dvd, some shots will be pro, others will be just fine for what we are doing,

Start speaking up to which site you want to do or if there is a spot that is not on the index site list like "duxbury reef " in marin

Lets get some halibut vid too!!!

I'm in. I happy to help you guys where I can. I lack the creativity to do anything on my own and what I would consider expertise in anything in particular, so if you have something I can help you with, just tell me.

Todd was looking through some of my dive photos I've posted. Most are from Monterey and Carmel, but if you guys feel like using any, just tell me and I can send them out in their highest quality. Basically all were bubble blowing.

Anyway, they can be found on my blog which is linked to my Flickr account here. http://cadiver.wordpress.com/ I'll try to post up more pictures and video up there when I get a chance. I've got more sitting around, but the ones posted are definitely some of the best.

awsome shannon, if you see some scallops that would be cool to film too, your the first beside me to speak up and get some northern humboldt shots, any footage you shoot will be in the vid, get some top side shots and write down water conditions, for sure we need Trinidad (south and north) patricks point, crescent city and spots into oregon....

So we got new updates, more footage comming in, still waiting for some vid of a 10"er.  Here is a sample map of sonoma coast with index sites and 2008 abalone punch card estimates, we have complete 2002-2009 data to make some cool maps and get a vis of how many abs are comming from where, have some kelp maps that we are working on too with GIS layers and such, we have a lot of data to upload, hope people are enjoying the flat conditions right now, remember to get some vid and pics whenever possible......
