Hello everyone,

Tribes and tribal communities, stakeholders, and interested members of the public are invited to participate in the second of a series of Project Team meetings to guide the development of the Recreational Red Abalone Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for the North Coast.

Recreational Red Abalone FMP Project Team
Meeting (Webinar) #2: Update on Work Plan and Discussion of Data Streams and De Minimis Fishery Design Options
Thursday, July 18, 2019 | 9:00am - 12:30 pm PST
Webinar & screen sharing: https://www.uberconference.com/strategicearth
Optional call-in number: 424-228-8722, no pin needed

This meeting (webinar) builds upon the discussions and identified next steps from the first Project Team meeting on May 22, 2019 (here for Meeting #1 agenda). Among other discussions of process and timeline for FMP development, the Project Team engaged in a brainstorm to identify priorities for a de minimis fishery as well as available data streams and needed information. A summary of key themes is under review by meeting participants and will be shared with the broader Project Team and publicly via the Ocean Protection Council’s (OPC) project webpage (here) in the coming weeks.

This webinar will provide an opportunity for the Project Team to discuss available data streams and associated trade-offs to inform the modeling of management strategies for the recreational Red Abalone FMP. With a foundational understanding of data streams, the Project Team will be invited to review and discuss strawman proposals for the design of a de minimis fishery and propose alternative options for consideration. A reminder that the Project Team operates in accordance with this charter (here).

A meeting agenda, meeting materials, and other information about the upcoming webinar will be circulated via email and posted online at the OPC’s project webpage (here) in the coming weeks. The Project Team welcomes ideas and proposals to be submitted to hello@strategicearth.com by July 18.

We kindly ask for your support sharing this information with your peers and constituents via your newsletters, blogs, social media, and other communications outlets. You are receiving this invitation email because you expressed an interest in receiving updates about and invitations to Red Abalone FMP Project Team discussions. Should you wish to be removed from this mailing list, please email hello@strategicearth.com.

All our best,
Rachelle and the Strategic Earth Team
