Barrel pipe and shaft
« on: May 21, 2019, 02:12:50 PM »
Looking to build a pipe gun around 75cm. I have s pathos muzzle and a meandros handle and mech.  I just need a barrel and shaft with shark fins that will fit these other components.  Any suggestions where I could get a barrel and shaft for a great price?

Hey Sal,

Spear America sells Pathos aluminum barrels and they aren't too expensive, like 55 bucks I think. They sell the Pathos shafts too but RA are cheaper if you don't mind the extra overhang!

Sounds fun.  But I'm curious why shark fins?

I dislike the tendency of notches cutting up my dyneema.

Spear America sells wire finned RA shafts that are unexpectedly my new favorite for hole hunting around here. Red Triangle and Bamboo Reef could probably get them in stock pretty easily, too. I thought I’d hate the wire fins initially, but I bought one in 110cm for my 70cm home build and never looked back. No idea how they’d perform on a bigger gun, but at the loads we work with hole hunting you get all the benefits of shark fins with perfectly rounded edges. I think it was like 50 bucks.

A diver down in LA was getting rid of a bunch of blanks for free, so I jumped on the opportunity and made a very shitty KAP knock-off. I'd been wanting to build a gun for a while but don't have the tools. Luckily he'd already routed the track, most of the mech pocket, and most of the handle recess. So I chiseled out the pocket to fit the mech I wanted and hand-carved the rest. The Pathos shaft in the photo lasted a whole fifteen minutes before I wedged it in a cave, and it's been Rob Allen shafts since.

I have a brand new RA flopper shaft, tricut tip, I am willing to part with.
It's a 110 cm long,  7.5 mm dia, with 2 minitabs.
I want $30 for it, if you are interested.

Dang. Solid deal. If it was american trigger mech I'd take you up on it!
