Red Abalone Peer Review Report Webinar, October 12 & Final Report Release

California Ocean Science Trust convened a peer review panel to evaluate the scientific merits of two proposed management strategies that have been developed to support the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) in designing a recreational red abalone fisheries management plan (FMP).

The final report prepared by the peer review panel is now available for review on the Recreational Red Abalone Peer Review webpage http://www.oceansciencetrust.org/projects/abalone-fishery-management-plan-peer-review/

During the webinar, participants will have an opportunity to engage with the peer review panel and learn about their recommendations as outlined in the final report and ask clarifying questions. The discussion is intended to help members of the red abalone community be well informed about the final report, which will be submitted at the upcoming Fish and Game Commission meeting on October 17, 2018.

An initial webinar was held on August 20 during which members of the red abalone community were invited to share their science-based and peer review process questions. Information about this first webinar, along with links to the presentation and a recording of the discussion, are available on the Recreational Red Abalone Peer Review webpage. http://www.oceansciencetrust.org/projects/abalone-fishery-management-plan-peer-review/
