Talking with commercial divers about how to improve efficiency, they suggested that instead of a diver filling many small bags that the diver could make a larger bag and fill that from the smaller bags on the bottom and pop a float when it's full. If a diver had two bags that could each hold about ten of the canvas bags we're using, then fill an air lift bag that would be attached to the larger bag on a line that reaches the surface, at the end of the day we could just go around hauling out the bigger bags once the divers are out of the water. They suggested using baskets instead of bags maybe also.

Hey At the The second recreational urchin removal event of 2018 at Albion campground July 21st and 22nd we will be doing another Fundraiser raffle and we are once again looking for donations for the raffle table. So if anyone knows a company or individual that wants to donate get in touch with me or Tino Bernazzani

Aquarius Dive Shop in Monterey has agreed to give us (for the raffle) 1 free open water certification (including tuition and materials) as well as a couple free tank fill stamp cards. They might send me up with a shop banner to hang on my RV or somewhere as well. I am going to stop by the other shops tomorrow to discuss more raffle donations.

This makes a lot of sense, My concern would be how to move such large bags of urchin unless we have boats with a crane like the pros use to get the bags onboard. I will still try my best to fill what ever bag I am given ;D
I am afraid after I am dead my wife will sell all my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I spoke with Blake at Subsurface Progression in Fort Bragg. He is willing to donate a couple kayaks for use at the urchin round up.  If you want to use one of his kayaks, visit Subsurface Progression and let him know that you are involved with the event. You have to fill out his rental paperwork and you will be responsible for the kayak, but you won’t be charged for the usage.

He has a limited supply and the number he lets us use will depend on how many he has on hand.

This has been posted on the kayak support thread. Please post questions or comments there. Thanks

No. We’d have an easier time raffling off the urchin.
