I took FII. I have friends who teach both PFI and FII.  I think they are on par with each other.

I would choose whichever is more compatible with your schedule, location and price range.

What would you all recommend pfi or fii?

I liked the FII class, but I have also heard good things about PFI.

I cant speak to PFI, but the FII class I took the teacher did not pass all students, I respect that, not just a pay the fee get the certification kind of class.

I also took the FII class with Kris and can't say enough about how it immediately improved my diving and confidence. Kris is a good teacher and you won't be disappointed. I also know people who have taken PFI courses with Kirk or others and they've had similar experiences. Both have credibility and either one would be money and time well-spent.
