The difference in weight is worth every penny, I am a wuss when it comes to packing a ton of weight on back and board.
Sounds like your just getting old! Jk
If you have the $ I am sure itís worth the purchase just donít break your bank on a dive board.

the other nice thing about this Gannet Coastal float is it actually can be used a  blue water float as well, dual purpose and when you think about it like that $500 is not that bad, you would easily spend that or more to buy just a dive board and blue water float individually

Well, I doubt if a pelagic could pull that big bastard under, but I sure wouldnít want to use it in a breeze, especially with a current. What are the dimensions on that float Matt?

Dimensions:
42" x 24" x 4" (106.5 x 61 x 10 centmeters)
Weight:
9.3 Pounds (4 Kilograms)
PSI max:
14 (1 bar)

no drag in the water / current or wind drag , I have used before for YT and works great.

I would rather buy one these then a banks/tanks board that can only  used as a dive platform  and not a spearing float, to each there own. That is what makes this sport cool is it is an individual sport, what works well for one diver may not for another we all have different dislikes and likes.   Also I am gear whore what can I say

I use a float line, I have never tried a reel. What is the advantage of a reel if you have a float line?
