Kayak Raffle to benefit NorCal Fire Victims
« on: October 17, 2017, 10:38:23 AM »
Re-post
My NorCal Kayak Angler (NCKA) buddies and I are doing a raffle for a Native Slayer Propel 13 Kayak.

All proceeds to NCKA members affected by the recent fires...we know of at least two that lost their homes and pretty much everything they owned...and the fires are still burning...

This is a vid my dive buddy Duane made driving home last weekend...

I love how much the fishing and Diving communities comes together during tough times.  I donated to PIF before I saw this but hope this kind gesture from Clavey can help with raising money for a few that had their lives changed during these fire storms.

Thanks guys for getting the word out and I pray the money finds its way to those who need it most.

I agree 100% Duane...feel very fortunate to be a part of such great communities...

As of now we have heard of two NCKA members that have lost homes (Victor and Chris).

Craig Davis and the Albion Open have spearheaded helping getting $$ raised for Victor. Some early donations came into the PIF PayPal for Victor and those were transferred to Craig, and so far Craig has been able to get $3,150 cash to Victor.

 :)

Chris' uncle Bill let me know that he has been in touch with Chris, and that they are working with insurance to get the family into a trailer but could really use some help with replacing clothes and dishes and essentials for the family.

Chris does not have PayPal but Bill does so yesterday we zapped $3,000 to Bill to get to Chris to help them get back on their feet, and to make sure they had the needed essentials for the family.

I let Bill know that if he hears that Chris has an immediate need above and beyond that to let us know....and the same for Victor or anyone else out there...if you hear of another NCKA member that needs help because of these fires (including fires in Mendo and Santa Cruz counties) please let us know and we will see what we can do to help out...

ALSO, Native and Clavey are doing the killer kayak raffle described above that so far has brought in $3,460 in ticket sales!!

Once the raffle is done we will see how much we have, assess the need and distribute the $$ as appropriate...

I have attached a screenshot showing the donation yesterday that we sent to Bill for Chris.

We hope all the above is in line with what the community expects of us...please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

THANK YOU!!

 :)

Sincerely,

Jim

Thank you everyone for your support of this raffle!

We raised $5,960 in ticket sales, and the kayak was won by NCKA member Mark Lockaby.

We have sent $3,000 to Chris Johnson, and the other $3,000 to Victor Gonzales, both of whom lost their homes in the fires.
