Purge or not to purge?

Do you prefer a built in mask purge or no purge at all?
Thanks,
Tim

gotta have a purge, works great to clear any water out of your mask.

I perfer no purge but will use both, I have in the past twice to be exact where I got out in the water to start my dive to only find my mask leaking cause the little rubber flap /seal had fallen out,

I agree with matt. The first thing I was gonna say was that it would be my luck to be several miles out at my favorite site and visibility 100', and the damn purge valve flapper would malfunction or just break off from that little rubber keeper in the center. Dive over! Unless you were smart enough to pack along an extra flapper valve for it. Then I say, good luck doing that in a bobbing boat at sea! Or worse, off of your float tube! Yeah right!!! So the less parts the better, has been my experience over the years!

I purge by exhaling out my nose while pushing on the top of the mask.

One more for no purge. I used them as a kid and had nothing but problems with them.

another one for no purge.. i actually dive with a snorkel that has a purge valve more because the mouth piece fits better in my mouth, but i always bring a spare no-purge snorkel and keep it in my float just in case.. actually i think its a good idea to bring spare gear with ya anyway... i always bring a spare mask strap, fin straps (i actually had both break on me in one dive!), spare snorkel and ab irons/guages.  i just put it all in a bag and stuff it int he float cause ya can always find a rock to climb out onto if ya need to do some emergency repairs... but getting out of the water completely and going to the car would just suck.

An other one here for a no perge, the least amount of parts to deal with the better, stay streamlined
