Title: I'm glad we don't have sharks like this!
Post by: Mike n on January 14, 2019, 11:58:32 AM
A buddy of mine lives in the south Pacific and uses a 65" mid I made.  The reef sharks ate his Dog Tooth Tuna before he got a chance to land it.  He says it has happened twice in two weeks.

That was insane to watch! "There's kind of a lot of sharks here guys" at the end had me laughing so hard.

Wow that would be frustrating. Did they ever land one?

That was nuts!

I wonder what the success rate is for bringing up a fish whole.

Whereabouts is that? I'm going to Tahiti next week and we are targeting DTT.

My buddy is on a small island named Roi Namur.  He says they are lucky to land a whole fish.  Apparently it takes the right conditions, teamwork and luck.  He has sent a couple pics of mostly shark eaten fish, and one of a whole fish.  No belt-stringers for that spot!

Good luck on the trip, bythog!  Bo says Roi Namor is a shark sanctuary with an over abundance.  You shouldn't have such issues in Tahiti.  He also says they work together to get the fish back to the boat as soon at possible.
