Hi NCUH,
Quick Q: my gal is a rockpicker, where's to go for some ab's on a minus tide in Mendo. county.
-
Go to where the rocks are sticking out of the water.
-
Go to places that are hard to access.

That's where the big ones are.

Bring long rope for that "challenging" access.

Thanks fellas, we've got the basics down, just looking for site specific public access areas in Mendo where it might be worth a try.

Not sure about Mendo but in Ft bragg I have seen many rock pickers at glass beach and Mackerricher. They both have long stretches of rocks with easy access on low tides.

if near pt Arena hit up moat creek huge reef to rock pick on low tide.

For what party? LOL. Me thinks for both Abs and the diver. ;)
In all honesty Mike its been well noted the Abs have moved into shallow waters in certain areas in search of food (kelp). I noticed many Abs in VERY shallow water on the leeside of structure in a couple areas in Mendocino Co last fall. They were stacked up like cordwood.

Any exposed reef where it's legal to take abalone.
Pulled many an 8 rock picking while my dad dove when I was a kid.
